Looking to sell up quickly or make the neighbors jealous? If so, the exterior of the property has to be as impressive as the inside. Of course, every homeowner understands the importance of interior design, and most invest a lot of time and money as a result. Sadly, curb appeal doesn’t get the same amount of attention, and homes suffer as a result. Whatever you are trying to do with your property, the outside needs to wow as much as the inside. Luckily, it can as long as you focus on these four key areas.
Area #1: The Front Door
Compared to the rest of the exterior, the front door appears less significant. However, anyone with design experience will know that the smaller details make a big difference. The front door is no different because it acts as a focal point when passers-by leave and enter the property. Plus, it stands out even from the other side of the road. The trick is to make sure it contrasts the rest of the outside of the house. To do that, try using a bold color like a blood red against a lighter backdrop.
Area #2: The Garage Doors
The garage is one area that is neglected by homeowners from here to Timbuktu. Why? It’s because the majority of people think there are other areas to focus on which are more important. The truth is that any feature which is viewable to passers-by with a keen eye needs treating with tender loving care. Thankfully, a lick of paint and a wipe down goes a long way. After all, the best garage doors sparkle and shine from the summer to winter. Also, look out for any flaws like cracks and fractures. Not only do these imperfections affect the home’s appearance, but they are a safety fault.
Area #3: The Garden
It goes without saying that the garden needs regular maintenance and to be free of clutter. Of course, plants and flowers also go a long way, but that is again pretty obvious. What isn’t as apparent is the addition of artwork throughout the garden. Usually, the artwork stays inside where it is easy to hang. But, it is possible to add features throughout the space outside of your home. A water feature is a great example, as is a wind chime or a bird bath.
Area #4: The Guttering
When you look at a high, the odds are you don’t focus on the guttering. Still, that doesn’t mean that the guttering isn’t affecting the way you view the property. The reason for this is that old drains also tend to lead to peeling paint and rust spots, and these all portray a sense of neglect. By just removing the original guttering and replacing it with a newer version, the exterior will have a new feeling of warmth. To take it one step further, you can change the color from black to something bold, such as gold.
Curb appeal is essential to any property, and it is attainable thanks to the advice above.
