I have come to the conclusion that if you have not heard of the book Fifty Shades of Grey you must be living under a rock. After hearing it mentioned every time I turn around lately, I decided I needed to see for myself what all the hoopla was about. I downloaded the E-Book, after all I would hate to ruin my pure and innocent reputation 😉 and started reading. Keep in mind I haven’t found the time to read a book in at least a year. I didn’t stop reading til I finished it.
I decided to ask around and see who had read the book and what they thought of it. I must say the general consensus was people really liked it. I did have one person say, “I didn’t read it. Heard that the literary quality is poor.” I must say I can’t imagine anyone reading this book for its literary quality. Perhaps that is why I liked it, I have read erotica and most of it is poorly written. I am not reading it for the literary value.
One of the funniest reviews I have read so far came from the Amazon website. It read, “I am 73 years young. Maybe you would’nt think I would enjoy such a book,BUT,I couldn’t put the book down. It talks of things I don’t know about. It’s true you learn something new every day. It proved that My furnace isn’t dead yet. Fun to read. It’s for ladies tho I think. Why don’t you read it and just see! I liked it so much I have the second book and I’m half way through it. I am sure I want to read the third one so I bought it too. My kindle is warmer than usual.”
The book has such mixed reviews it makes me realize that the difference must be in the people themselves. It makes me wonder what people are looking for in the book. Is the difference in the people who love it and hate it if they can perhaps picture themselves being submissive or not? Is it the difference in those who are looking for romance and not just sex as Christian says? I don’t know what it is to be honest all I know is that I will be downloading the second in the series tonight.
Have you read the book? If so comment below and let me know what you thought of it.
