Halloween is super exciting in my house this year. Not only do we have all the usual fun things going on, my daughter is getting married. Halloween has always been her favorite holiday so what better time for a wedding. A big part of planning the festivities is planning the foods to go along with the theme. This is where Celebration by Frey™ and Sixlets® are the perfect addition to the party.
I was sent a lot of candies to use for my Halloween festivities. I love the bright colors and just know they will compliment any treats we make with them. Of course we had to sample some, not only do they look great, they test great. I had to stop the boy from sampling to many.
If you have not checked out the Celebration by Frey and Sixlets websites you should. They make it easy and fun to make your party a memorable one. Best of all they are easy to find. They are available in Walmart, Hobby Lobby, Wegmans, Meijer and more stores across the country!
I have used Sixlets before to decorate my Pumpkin Sugar Cookies . They were such a huge hit that we are using them to make several of the treats for the Bridal Shower. My daughter’s favorite Halloween treat is Caramel Apples and the Sixlets compliment them beautifully.
Sixlets Caramel Apples
1/2 cup cubed butter
2 cups packed brown sugar
1 cup light corn syrup
dash of salt
1 can sweetened condensed milk
teaspoon vanilla extract
10 medium apples, Tart ones are best
In a large heavy saucepan, melt butter; add the brown sugar, corn syrup and salt. Cook and stir over medium heat until mixture comes to a boil, about 10-12 minutes. Stir in milk. Cook and stir until a candy thermometer reads 248° (firm-ball stage). Remove from the heat; stir in vanilla.
Place apples on the sticks let cool for 20 seconds and dip in a dish of sixlets candies. Next place on stick down on a raised cooling rack. This prevents puddling and allows them to cool without the sixlets getting pushed into the apples.
