Using the word ‘hacks’ for cleaning is probably the wrong term to use. What I mean, is these are simple solutions with lemons that will make the boring task of cleaning a whole lot easier, and hopefully faster too. Here are some tips for certain cleaning chores to make your life easier.
Lime scale builds up quickly on your shower head through use. It can be difficult to sit there and scrub every last bit off, so why not let lemons do the work for you? Simply grab a water tight sandwich bag, fill it with lemon juice, and tie it around your shower head. Leave it overnight and you will wake up to a sparkly fresh, lime scale free shower. This technique could be used for other parts of your home like your bathroom and kitchen taps. Doing this every so often will make your fixtures look as good as new!
Cleaning the inside of your fridge is now even easier than ever, with easy hacks like lemon dipped in salt. Simply scrub all of the interior of your fridge, and the lemon and salt will eat away all of the grime and bacteria. Follow this up by wiping with a clean damp cloth and your refrigerator will be sparkling. Cleaning a stainless steel refrigerator on the outside should be something you do regularly, to keep it looking nice and shiny. A wet cloth should suffice unless the soiling is particularly bad. Keeping a sliced lemon in a bowl in the fridge will also keep it smelling clean too.
This is simply a heat, wipe and go job. Slice a lemon or two up and put them in the microwave on the highest setting for about 5 minutes. Be careful when removing the bowl, but the acidity from the lemon should have fizzled off any dirt and spills in your microwave. Leaving you with only the task of wiping it clean.
The smell of the garbage disposer can be rancid, so to eliminate this smell (and have the smell of lemons throughout your home), cut up a couple of lemons and put them through the garbage disposer. A brilliant hack if you have guests coming over!
5 Chopping boards
Lemons are incredible to use for the cleaning of your chopping boards. Either alone or added with salt, simply rub a halved lemon over your chopping board. All of the knife marks on your board will be reached by the lemon and it will eliminate any lurking bacteria, leaving your chopping boards fresher than ever.
The next time you notice your mirror is smeary, try a solution of lemon juice and water, followed by a microfiber cloth for buffing. It cleans perfectly and leaves behind a lovely scent!
There are so many different things that you can use lemons to clean with. Not only does the acidic properties clean well, but it leaves a fresh lemony scent. It certainly beats some of the other smells that are produced in the home!
