I really can never remember dad setting out to give me advice to teach me something, but he taught me some of the biggest lessons in life through example. I am the person I am today because of him. Dad taught me you work hard to provide for your family, even if it means putting your own life on the back burner. He became a dad to me when he was very young. I know he had hopes and dreams of his future that he never got to live because he wanted to “do the right thing.”
He taught me always be willing to lend a helping hand. Dad was always one of the first people ready to give a helping hand to family and friends, never asking anything in return.
Two of the greatest life lessons he taught me was when he became Santa. One was it is better to give then receive and the other is to do something because it feels good, not because it looks good. Dad played Santa to hundreds of kids and never asked for nothing in return. He often said what he got out of it was far more then he ever put into it. That seeing the children’s reaction was the greatest gift he could ever receive.
I could go on forever talking about dad but instead I am comming to you asking that today, in my dad’s memory you will pratice one act of random kindness. I am sure if he was here he would have without even realizing he had done so.
Fins Up Dad !!!!
