This past weekend we paid tribute to my mom. She did not want a service so we paid tribute it the best way we could, we gathered friends and family and had a cookout.
Ever since I was little our favorite times have centered around cookouts. Some of my fondest early memories were gathering family and heading to Seawall Picnic Area. I am fortunate enough to live next to Acadia National Park and this is picnic area is a beautiful part of it.
The place my mom felt most at peace was at my aunt’s camp on a little pond. We would go down for the weekends and there was always so much food. My dad was a self proclaimed “King of the Grill” and loved to make sure there was enough food for what ever family, friends, or even yet to meet friends showed up.
What better place to gather friends and family to pay tribute to her. Since my dad passed away I have taken over the grill, and could almost hear him telling me I should have waited a few more minutes before I put the first batch of meat on the grill. He was always so smart LOL. It was all good though and the food was enjoyed by all. There was so much food, on the grill we cooked hot dogs, hamburger, moose burger (Ewww), Sausage, Orange peel chicken, & Spicy Chicken. There were enough side dishes to feed a small country and a frozen concoction or two. I know my mom would have been impressed.
